you may or may not have read elsewhere about a massive data breach involving heartland payment systems, there is a lot of commentary. one thing that is interesting is with the attention and resources in this current environment focused on pci this and that, the thieves targeted a processor as opposed to some pos terminal. everything else aside, my question is why any data would be unencrypted; however, perhaps the logistics of encryption [both sender(s) and receiver(s)] have been difficult to implement amidst the conglomerate of parties involved…?
