why that new show southland is wack

May 8th, 2009 · No Comments

so i have been seeing the terrible ads for this new show southland on network television for some time. apparently this is the best thing to hit summer since the big gulp, critics are raving over it, blah blah blah. to me of course it looks like some exec saw training day years late and had a eureka. here’s the story: rookie cop gets shown the ropes by veteran cop and tries to find his way among the asphalt jungle of los angeles. like i said, crap.

the one redeeming quality of the show, the only area where someone got something right, the deciding factor yesterday evening in why i didnt just go to sleep after the meeting was this: they were shrewd. first off, give the casting director a star. why you ask? because he scooped the seated liberty dollar, the five hundred dollar bill regina king. oh my goodness. when i saw regina king was going to be on tv–every week!–i almost bought tivo.

so i get in last night, im tired, ready to snoozy snooze, count panthers, hit the sack, etc, when i remember southland is on. so i see whatsup. and let me tell you what isnt whatsup. i watch at least half the show before i turn it off: regina king makes one appearance? for half a minute? que? you have got to be kidding me. thing is totally wack, so wack.

anyway, i would go on but i dont even want to think about it. super disappointment though. so take my word for it: if you havent seen it dont bother. regina king not being featured more is why that new show southland is wack.
